Hannah & Katiya from The Pointer Series Mixed Media 2000 - present I became acutely aware of air space after the tragedy of September 11, and began making a series of “pointers” on 10” x 15” wooden blocks which I call “tablets.” Today I continue to be interested in the gesture of pointing and how people interpret my request to “make a point.” Images are collaged onto the wooden surface and protected by a sheet of 1/8 inch, non- glare plexiglass. The tops of the tablets are curved, and may be painted or presented in a variety of ways.

The Valley of the Shadow 2003 18" x 24" Monoprint This piece was done at a seminar in Tougaloo, Mississippi, where I worked with New Orleans artist and master printmaker, John Scott. Although this process must be carefully monitored because the monoprint does go through the press — sometimes more than once — almost anything is “printable,” thus allowing for the overlapping of shapes and rich collaborations of color and texture. For me, much of the inherent joy in this process is the experimental nature of the medium and the continuous element of surprise in the pulling of that first print.

The Sheep from the Farm Series Mixed Media 2000 - present Executed on the same type of wooden “tablet” as described above, this work comes from a series of pieces which employ multiple images of farm animals. My affinity for animals connects me to my Vermont roots.

Staircase to Nowhere: Barbie’s American Dream Mixed Media Sculpture 2003 This multi-media sculpture employs imagery of Western consumerism as Barbie ascends the ladder of dreams and instead finds infertility, the stoning of women, the slaughter of nature, a world of anarchy . . . .
